Aetherbound is an incremental RPG that lives in a browser tab. Set it up, let it run, come back stronger.
Passive Aether trickles in from the Wilds. Click to jumpstart it early, then build upgrades until clicking is optional—and eventually embarrassing.
The Smithy converts raw materials into weapons, armor, and trinkets. Every piece has stats that scale with your materials, skill, and increasingly reckless experimentation.
The dungeon runs automatically once you're in. Roguelite floors, random relics, escalating enemies, and loot that probably isn't worth the near-death experience.
Reset your run for permanent multipliers. The Ascension chart lets you buy lasting upgrades with Ascension Points—so every death makes you measurably less bad.
Warrior, Ranger, Mage, or Rogue—each shapes how your stats scale and which gear hits hardest. Class choice lasts the run, so choose with mild deliberateness.
A global leaderboard tracks Renown, ascension depth, and personal bests. Compete with strangers, or just feel bad about your efficiency. Both are valid.
The loop
Each session follows the same core rhythm. The numbers change. The humbling stays constant.
Aether flows. Flora and Scrap pile up. You pretend you're in control.
›Smelt materials into gear. Equip the best. Sell the rest. Repeat until the Smithy is a well-oiled machine.
›Enter the Abyss. Fight floors automatically. Pick up relics. Eventually die to something embarrassingly avoidable.
›Convert this run's progress into permanent gains on the Ascension chart. Start over, objectively stronger.
